The Upper East Regional Minister, Paulina Patience Abayage, has made a passionate appeal to traditional leaders in the Kasena-Nankana West area to offer their support to her office.

She said their support would enable her to work effectively to deliver and achieve the needed transformation in the region through the implementation of the various policies the government has instituted.

Addressing the Paramount Chiefs and people of Paga and Mirigu Traditional Areas at separate mini durbars as part of her familiarization tour of the region on Thursday 10th January 2019, Ambassador Abayage stressed the role of traditional authorities in the development of the region, saying ”their role is very crucial and cannot be overlooked”.

Acknowledging the importance their contributions would add to her office, she said will closely collaborate with the overlords who are key, integral and bedrock in the development process of the region.

“I will need your support. I will need your support for us to be able to implement all the programs that we have that are going to transform the lives of our people and the region. I am therefore appealing to you our fathers, our chiefs to throw your support behind me, to enable me to deliver on what I have been tasked with. With your support, I can bring maximum development to this our dear region”.

The Regional Minister announced that government will soon roll out the ‘Rearing for Food and Jobs’ policy to add to the several other social intervention programs the NPP government has implemented.

She noted that the policy will come with unquantifiable benefits and will put income, especially, in the pockets of rural folks who engage in animal farming. She urged all to embrace the policy when it is rolled out, to experience the transformation the NPP government wants for all Ghanaians.

“Government will soon roll out the Rearing for food and jobs. It is another policy that will put money in the pockets our rural in particular who engage in animal rearing. These animals such as the guinea fowls can be sold and the money gotten used to take care of our families. It is good and I will advise that we all embrace it like we embrace the planting for food and jobs so that will experience the massive transformation the NPP wants to bring to all Ghanaians”.

She assured the Chiefs of her commitment to working closely with all traditional rulers in the region.

"Our close collaboration will bring tremendous development to this district and I am assuring you of my office's readiness to work closely with you my dear Chiefs". The Minister said emphatically.

The Minister indicated that her office will work assiduously to provide every corner of the region with basic infrastructure such as an extension of electric power to the areas, provision of potable drinking water, schools, good roads and health centres to promote better living.

"I will use my good office to champion calls for more schools to be built and renovated, provide good drinking water and electricity to rural areas, construction of good roads and bridges and Health centres".
