Six accredited traditional office holders of Neefu Jorbu family at Kwabenya community under the Gbese Divisional Stool in the Ga State of the Greater Accra Region  were on December 17, inducted in the Kwabenya Chief palace to justify their installation as the legimate and rightful traditional Office holders in Kwabenya community. .  The six are Principal Kingmaker of Neefu Jorbu family at Kwabenya community   Nii Armaah Jorbu l, Mankrolo of Neefu Family, Nii Afutu Afragadza I, Taifa Queen mother, Naa Okailey Adzorbu I, Stool mother of Neefu Jorbu, Naa Amwrteley Onor Atta, Nii Kkpante Mensah ll, Asafoatse Tatse l and Asafoanye Ashiwley I were officially inducted in the Kwabenya Mantse Palace yesterday.

Addressing the Journalists, the Principal Kingmaker of Neefu Jorbu family, Nii Armaah Jorbu l, called on the government through the Ghana Education Service (GES) to do them a favour of allowing the teaching of Ga Language in the various schools within the Kwabenya commuty.

According to Nii Armaah Jorbu l, who doubles as the Chief Priest (Wulomo) of Neefu Jorbu family, it has come to the time for government to consider the teaching of Ga Language like other local languages in the schools within the Kwabenya community.

The teaching of the language, he stressed would help the Ga school going children in Kwabenya to embrace the knowledge of Ga language which hetherto will go along ways to impact of local languages on community development in the area.

"We realized that the inability of Ga school children of Kwabenya community to be taught in schools on how to write the Ga language is completely making the youth to lose various knowledge in Ga language. 

"So in the coming year we are appealling to the government to agree on the quest of the Kwabenya chiefs and elders to package special courses in the educational cariculum that will enable the schools in the area to train GaDangbe teachers at the various schools in the area to teach our children Ga language. We are adding that the training should also include aspects of the Ga culture.

He indicated that “Our Ga language is dying.And so is the Ga Dangbe culture. Unless we do something fast, we will regret it one day."

He stated tha the government can start by creating courses to offer Ga teachers more skills so they can teach the language to more people in the Kwabenya community.

Nii Armaah Jorbu l stressed the need for the central government to do the needful in that regard.

Nii Armaah Jorbu l stated that there is no more chieftaincy dispute in the area and cautioned the youth to resist any action by some self seeking individuals and organisations to influence to them to fomet trouble and confusion within the Kwabenya community "since there peace in the area now."

He indicated that plans are far advanced for the traditional Office holders to embark on peace campaign in the Kwabenya to educate the youth on the sustain peaceful coexistence in the area.

Hesaid “the establishment of their working partnership with the educational institutions and key stakeholders is within the framework of the goals of elders and chiefs of Kwabenya Mantse Palace of mainstreaming traditional African content in its curriculum.”

He noted that plans were under way for the traditional Office holders to collobate with the government to support the pupils with the edutional materials in the various schools in the area.

He called on other benevolent individuals to come on board to support the GES policy of using local language to teach KG and primary pupils and also support poor parents who may not able to buy books for their wards.
