Mrs Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe Ghansah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ada, has provided pipe-borne water for Tamkope-Kenornya Community in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra Region.

The provision of the water was part of the promises she made to the communities during her 2016 election campaign.

Mrs Ghansah said: “During my campaign in this particular community I made a promise that if you vote for me to become MP I will use my office to solicit for funds to provide you with treated water as a solution to the water problem here, but some of you did not believe it.”

“But today, the enthusiastic cheers I have received has confirmed that my promises were not just for votes, but to bring some smiles on your faces as you witness some improvement in your living conditions.”

She said within the space of two years she had been able to extend treated water to seven deprived communities in the constituency.

Madam Dornukie Abayateye, an Opinion Leader of Tamkope-Kenornya, said the provision of the water had brought a big relief to the people, especially parents, since the water problem affected the education of their children as they had to go in search of water before going to school.

She said the schoolgirls used the excuse of going to draw water but ended up engaging in other activities that were detrimental to their education.

Madam Abayateye said the potable water would also help to improve the health of the people.
