KMA urged to lift ban on public use of School Parks

Duduako (Ash), Nov 23, GNA - Mr George Abofra, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Oforikrom, has appealed to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to lift the ban imposed on the use of the Oforikrom Junior Secondary School (JSS) Park in Kumasi by members of the public.

He said the ban, which was imposed about a year ago, had made it impossible for members of the public to secure alternative venue for their recreational activities, especially sports.

Mr Abofra made the appeal at separate forums at Deduako, Apimso and Anwomaso on Monday during his electioneering campaign tour of the Constituency and also to launch his campaign Website.

The ban followed violent conduct of some members of the public on the school premises, which resulted in the manhandling of a teacher. Mr Abofra said as part of his vision for development and tapping of talents of the youth in sports, he would evolve and introduce a comprehensive sports programme at all levels in the Constituency.

Under the programme, he said the youth would be organised to actively participate and compete in the various sporting activities including football, volleyball, table tennis and athletics with trophies at stake.

Mr Evans Kwabla, NDC Organiser for Oforikrom, entreated the electorate to vote for parliamentary candidates and political parties whose visions could accelerate development and progress in their constituencies and not on basis of popularity.
