Thieves break into West Gonja District Assembly offices

Some unknown persons, Thursday night broke into the Rural Enterprise department of the West Gonja District Assembly and made away with valuables including a desktop computer, system unit, laptop, chargers, digital camera inter alia.

Confirming the case on a local radio station, PAD FM, Sulemana Ganiwu,the Business Development Officer of the Assembly said, they only got to work this morning to realize part of the back window of the office had been destroyed.

The thieves after destroying the window, removed the louvre blades and then got into the office at the blind side of the security personnel on duty.

The incident is believed to have occurred in the middle of the night.

He said the full extent of the damage, especially, the items stolen were yet to be ascertained.

According to him, the situation was going to affect the work of the department, since, they have lost all information stored on the laptop and the personal computer, adding that, things are not going to be easy for the office.

The matter he disclosed, has been reported to the West Gonja District Police Command for further investigations.

He pleaded with the general public to assist the police with information that would lead to a retrieval of the items and subsequent arrest of the culprits.

The police according to him, have visited the Assembly to ascertain the situation and took some pictures to aid their investigation.

The two security men who where also on duty have been picked up and are currently at the police station assisting investigations.

Checks by Ghanawebs' Ananpansah B Abraham reveal that, a similar incident occurred at the Environmental Health Unit located at the GES directorate and the office of Non-Formal Education, now known as Alternative Education Agency.

It can be confirmed that, the police has commenced full investigation into both cases.
