A one year, two months old baby has been confirmed dead after sustaining a gunshot wound last Wednesday following a clash between the people of Drobo and Japekrom in the Brong Ahafo Region.

This brings the death toll in the clash to three as one was pronounced dead and at least 14 others sustaining various degrees of gunshot wounds on the day of the incident.

On Wednesday, 42-year-old Wofa Atta Sena, who was the Mmrantihene, was killed while returning from the Mpoasu River with other residents of Japekrom when they came under attack in the Drobo township, the Police in the region confirmed.

They had gone to the riverside near Drobo to perform some rituals as part of the celebration of the Munufie Festival by the Chiefs and people of Japekrom, which is about 1,000 metres to Drobo.

One more was later pronounced dead before the police intervened and imposed a 6:00am – 6:00pm curfew on Drobo and Japekrom and surrounding towns.

Following the death of the 14-months-old baby, the toll now stands at three (3), as 21 others who sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds are responding to treatment.

The body of the baby has been deposited at the Berekum holy family hospital morgue for postmortem.
