The Amansie West District Assembly is on course to achieve its revenue target for 2018, Mr. Nil Larteh Ollenu, the District Chief Executive (DCE) has disclosed.

He said the Assembly had mobilized GH¢5,462,633.89 as at the end of August out of the expected revenue target of GH¢7,705,479.96, representing 70.06 per cent.

The DCE who announced this at the Assembly’s general meeting at Manso-Nkwanta said, the performance was encouraging but there was the need to adopt innovative strategies to rake in more revenue.

He said the Assembly would engage additional commission collectors to augment efforts of the existing revenue staff, adding that a special revenue taskforce would also be formed.

Touching on roads, he said, poor road network was one of the major challenge in the District as most of them were in deplorable state, thereby having adverse effect on economic activities in the area.

It is against this background that the Assembly had earmarked a total of 28.5 kilometres of roads in the District for reshaping by the close of October.

Some of the roads, according to him, are Krofrom Junction-Manso Nkasu, Asarekrom Junction-Nyadeyeya-Nweneso No.3, Domi Junction-Domi, Asamang Junction-Yawkrom-Agroyesum and Yawhemenkrom-Atobrakrom-Mprenease.

Mr. Ollenu noted that the Assembly would continue to invest in water infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted potable water supply to the people.

He said the Assembly had revamped the Manso Atwere Water Board which was on the verge of collapse, with the installation of a new water pump and provision of two 1500 litres poly tanks.
