Some traders at the Tamale Bus Stop area in the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern Region of Ghana, have expressed concerns over the high insecurity they face as they carry out their activities.

They disclosed that most of their businesses and lives are in danger as there is rising insecurity at the station.

According to them, some youths who are suspected to be engaged in drugs, are also involved in petty robbery which sometimes occur during broad day and in the night.

Speaking to Savanna Diaries, one of the traders who pleaded anonymity, revealed how people have been attacked by these boys at night in and around the station.

He also explained that, children well under sixteen (16) years are the majority who are engaged in smoking, theft and abuse of tramodol which the Food and Drug Board has banned throughout the country.

These youths, are suspected to have come from areas such as Sagnarigu, Asawaba, Nyohini, Sakasaka and Sinshegu communities.

He however, called on parents in the metropolis to closely monitor the movements of their children to prevent them from engaging or fallen victims of social vices.

"If you come here in the night you won't like it. Some of them do not sleep at all. But if their fathers bother about them, I am sure this wont happen" He said.

Some passengers who have fallen victims to these criminals have called on the Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to mount a temporary Police barrier to minimise the activities of these hooligans.
