The Obuasi Municipal Assembly (OMA) in the Ashanti Region has introduced compulsory morning devotion for Christian believers and non believers to strengthen both spiritual and physical needs of staff.

"The office of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) announces to all staff of Obuasi Municipal Assembly that, Morning Devotion is being organized for all Christians and non believer", stated in an announcement on the Assembly's notice board.

"Come and let us thank the Lord for His mercies and endureth forever", MCE Elijah Adansi Bonah admonishing " We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us."

This comes at the time President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has inaugurated a 13-Member Board of Trustees who will be in charge of building a National Cathedral for Christians in the country.

“It is an extremely solemn occasion for me because this is something that I have thought about sometime [and] I am hoping that if God is kind to me this will see the light of the day while I am a tenant," the President said Thursday at a brief ceremony at the Flagstaff House.

Sections of Ghanaians have questioned the relevance of a national cathedral at a time when the President has said the economy was in bad shape.

But the President said the national worship center would be an interdenominational church hosting "state occasions such as state service, funerals, and burials."

He said it will also be available for private activities, but the "central focus is the national significance."
