Emmanuel Kumah being sworn in by the school's Governing Council Emmanuel Kumah being sworn in by the school's Governing Council

The President of the Students Representative Council of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), Emmanuel Kumah has been duly sworn in at the school's Governing Council's second meeting that came off on Tuesday, 17th July 2018.

The former EC boss of the school took an oath of membership administered by the Chairman of the Council Professor Kwasi Ansu-Kyeremeh in front of a distinguished board of directors and members.

The exercise officially confers on the president the constitutional representative and administrative roles of the Secretariat at Council and Management levels, having now been officially confirmed as a member.

In recitation, President Kumah pledged his allegiance and compliance to the Council and more importantly to the student welfare. He signed some official membership documents after the swearing-in and was congratulated by other distinguished members of the Council.

Kumah secured a record-setting victory of over 1,000 votes in the 2018|2019 SRC Elections and has since begun to roll-out some major campaign promises like the One Student One Laptop ( 1S1L); a partnership with AIRTEL-TIGO to address the WIFI challenges well as a partnership with management to put up the first-ever dispensary in school.

The Governing Council of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, just like in all tertiary institutions, is the topmost decision and law-making body that governs educational institutions.
