Sagnarigu MCE presents furniture to Our Lady of Fatima school

The Municipal Chief Executive of Sagnarigu, Hon. Iddrisu Mariam today presented 40 furniture to Our Lady of Fatima School to facilitate effective teaching and learning in the school.

The dual desk will be put into the newly built kindergarten block of the school, the kindergarten was commissioned some months ago.

Presenting the furniture in a short ceremony, the Sagnarigu MCE hinted that, the assembly has made 200 dual desks for this quarter to be distributed to schools within the municipality, “We have plans to make 200 every quarter until we fill all the furniture deficit in the Municipality. We have over 2000 furniture deficit in basic schools”.

Hon Mariam said, the first set of furniture will be given to 10 most needy schools including Our Lady of Fatima to reduce the burden of furniture at the lower primary, saying that, the 40 dual desk will serve 120 pupils in the school.

The MCE urged pupils of the school to be serious with their education since their desire for a brighter future was dependent on it.

She emphasized that, the students should learn very hard in order to become better and responsible people in the future especially the Upper Primary and Junior High School.

She advised pupils to keep the environment clean at all times and should not litter around in order to live a healthy life. “Let us make our environment our friend by keeping it clean all the time”. She said

The Sagnarigu MCE also urged the teachers of the school to mentor the children to become very responsible people in future.

The Director of Education for the Sagnarigu Municipality Madam Samata Mahama at the function also advice the pupils to take their studies seriously and stop the habit of spending many hours with their phones to the neglect of their studies.

Speaking to savannnanews24.com, Alhassan Rashida, a JHS 2 student of the school, said, the donation of the furniture came as a pleasant news to them because their younger ones will be able to sit comfortably and learn very well.
