Hon Gilbert Ken Asmah, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality, has presented 200 dual desks, 100 mono desk, 50 teachers table and 8 hexagonal tables to the Municipal Education Directorate for distribution to eighteen(18) basic schools within the Municipality.
The Schools include Abompuniso, Mahamo, Akoon M/A, Wassa Agona, Nyanso Nkran M/A, Atuabo Anglican, GREL, Jerusalem, Dompim Methodist, Tetrem.
The rest are Atuabo community, Atuabo John Taylor, Essamang kakraba, Akyempim, Nsuta Dadwen, Nkran Nyanso Islamic, Hooper memorial and Nsuaem Methodist basic schools respectively. Briefing the media during the presentation, Hon Gilbert Ken Asmah mentioned that gesture is meant to end the insufficient or lack of tables and chairs where lack of the latter had become a source of discomfort to some of the school children.
He further explained that the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality Assembly would do its maximum best to enhance effective teaching and learning atmosphere, calling on teachers and parents to give he and his team, the needed cooperation and support to deliver more.
The Assembly has also facilitated for the rehabilitation of some schools in the Municipality; Hon Asmah urged school heads to ensure proper handling and maintenance of the furniture. The Tarkwa-Nsuaem MCE observed that H.E Nana Akufo-Addo was so much obsessed about education for all Ghanaians, thus the introduction of the Free Senior High School policy and the payment of BECE registration fees for the thousands of candidates who just completed Junior High School, a move which has since received commendation locally and globally, he noted.
Mr. Alex K Duah, the Municipal Education Director, who received the desks said the gestures would go a long way to support the schools for enhance teaching and learning atmosphere, he commended the Tarkwa-Nsuaem MCE for his commitment and readiness towards the education fortunes in the Municipality and further promised to give him all the cooperation and support. He said.
