1,059 candidates write BECE in Nadowli-Kaleo district

A total of 1,059 candidates from various Junior High Schools in the district are taking part in the examinations at 2 centres at Kaleo Secondary Technical School and Queen of Peace secondary school.

District Chief Executive for Nadowli-Kaleo, Hon. Katherine T.Lankono, on toured the two examination centres to make sure the candidates wrote in a conducive environment.

Briefing the DCE during her tour, the District Director of Education, Madam Mary Assumpta Mwinsigteng told the DCE that out of the numbers sitting for the exam, 521 were boys while 538 were girls and no examination malpractice had been recorded.

Madam Mary Assumpta appealed to the invigilators to maintain the highest professional standard and to ensure impartiality for the successful completion of the test in the area.

The DCE advised the students to avoid all forms of examinations malpractices, which when caught, could create ruin one's reputation as well as disgrace their families, schools and the district.

She added that the Nana Akufo-Addo administration is committed to providing quality and affordable education to all Ghanaians, a stance which is evident in the implementation of the Free SHS policy.

“By free SHS, mean that in addition to tuition, which is already free, there will be no admission fees, no library fees, no science centre fees, no computer laboratory fees, no examination fees, no utility fees. There will be free textbooks, free boarding and free meals and day students will get a meal at school for free," she noted.

As at the time the DCE visited the examination centre at Kaleo Secondary Technical School, one girl was reported to have missed the English paper because she was at the hospital to deliver her baby but later returned to write the Religious and Moral Education paper, after she successfully delivered a baby girl.

The West African examination which started on Monday 4th June, 2018 will end on 8th June, 2018.
