In line with its strong policy of maintaining a clean, sanitary and safe environment for business, the Achimota Retail Centre (Achimota Mall) over the weekend teamed up with the Ga East Metropolitan Assembly for a massive clean-up exercise in Dome where the shopping centre is located.
Madam Janet Tulasi Mensah, the Ga East Municipal Chief Executive, her staff and the Assembly’s special task force on sanitation, joined the management staff, tenants of Achimota Retail Centre and residents to desilt choked drains and clear piles of unauthorized rubbish dumps along the Dome Market road from the St. Johns Grammar School overpass and the environs of the shopping centre.
Centre Manager, Mrs. Olivia Torpey told newsmen at the end of five hours of clean up that as a socially responsible business, Achimota Retail Centre is extremely sensitive to the sanitary conditions and safety of its immediate environment and is happy that the exercise was a big success.
“We are delighted that we had none other than the Ga East Municipal Assembly to encourage us and partner with us in this worthy initiative; response from the public and our tenants has been great and that encourages us to make plans for more of such sanitary interventions,” Mrs Torpey said.
The Municipal Assembly supported the clean-up exercise with public announcements and provided all the necessary working tools, while Achimota Mall mobilized its tenants and residents and provided branded work-shirts and refreshments for the participants.
“Working with residents from within the Centre’s catchment area for our common good has been a delightful experience; it means our patrons and customers appreciate our commitment to environmental cleanliness and safety in our operations. Today’s exercise is indeed, a positive sign of partnership with our community,” said Mr. Anthony Asamoah, Marketing Manager at Achimota Retail Centre.
Located at Dome, near the St. John’s Grammar School, the Centre, popularly known as Achimota Mall, is the trendiest retail shopping destination in the entire Ga East Municipality and brings modern, convenient one-stop shopping to a host of communities like Tantra Hill, Ofankor, Ashongman Estates, Kwabenya and the Achimota township.
