NPP Executives call on Akufo-Addo to sack Tarkwa-Nsuaem MCE

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Executive members in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency of the Western Region have called on President Akufo-Addo to as matter of urgency sack the MCE of the area, Mr. Gilbert K. Asmah, from his duty post immediately.

Addressing a news conference in Tarkwa, Benjamin Kessie, the Constituency Secretary of the party accused the MCE of working against the Member of Parliament of the area to make him a 'One Term' MP.

"The MCE is heading a team on agenda “One Term MP”. This team is well resourced by the MCE in collaboration with other antagonist who are refusing to accept electoral defeats as part of the sides of democracy, to manufacture tapes and generate damning propaganda against the MP and party leadership".

According to him, instead of the MCE working to consolidate the gains of the party in the area, he was covertly and overtly knocking off the NPP's political fortunes in Tarkwa-Nsuaem.

He asserted that upon assumption of office as MCE, Gilbert Asmah was pursuing an agenda of total disregard for the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, George Mireku Duker and the NPP hierarchy.

"The MCE has betrayed our collective resolve to develop our municipality and constituency", he asserted.

He accused the MCE of leaking information on every action of resolving issues to some people for publication to put the stakeholders in a bad light.

"The MCE’s personally established parallel team publishes every move by party elders to secure peace and in effect, impugn on the integrity of these unsuspecting men and women of substance of our party. The MCE personally repackages and leak information on every action at resolving issues for his men to publish effectively to put stakeholders in bad light", he emphasized.

The Administrator of the party is therefore calling on President Akufo-Addo to remove the MCE from his post for non-performing and prevent the party from losing membership in the Constituency.

Speaking to GhanaWeb after their press conference, the MCE, Gilbert Asmah denied all assertions insisting he had no problem with the MP for the area and Constituency party leadership.

According to him, the problem of some of the executives was that he, the MCE was having a cordial relationship with the former MP for the area, Gifty Kusi.

WITHDRAWAL OF TARKWA NSUAEM MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE-HON GILBERT K. ASMAH FROM OFFICE

Good morning ladies and gentlemen of the media.

We warmly welcome you to the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency Executive Committee 2018 maiden press conference and thank you so very much for honouring our invitation upon short notice.

Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency is a traditional seat for the NPP in the Western Region.

It is important however, to emphasize that, the margin of vote difference between NDC and NPP in the 2016 elections (parliamentary and presidential) was over 20000 (twenty thousand).

This unprecedented wide vote margin was secured under the able leadership of H. E. the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and Hon George Mireku Duker (MP).

Suffice to submit that instead of working to consolidate the gains, our MCE is covertly and overtly knocking off our political fortunes.

It is public knowledge that Hon. KD Asmah was shortlisted among other two MCE applicants by the Constituency Executive Committee; in consultation with party elders and patrons upon a directive from the national secretariat for onward nomination by H.E the President.

In May 2017, Hon KD was subsequently overwhelmingly confirmed by Hon. Assembly Members of TNMA upon series of positive background work by Hon George Mireku Duker (MP) and the party leadership.

However, upon the assumption of office, the MCE has, in all intents and purposes, pursued an agenda of total disregard for MP and party hierarchy and betrayed our collective resolve to develop our Municipalityq/Constituency.

Though comprehensive petitions have been submitted to the appropriate offices for action, we deem it worthwhile to hint our publics through this medium with some few highlights.
Notable among the series of crafted and well-oiled machinations firmly controlled by the MCE include;

The MCE unilaterally set some ten or so point uncoordinated vision and proclaimed same without consultation. This vision of his primarily sought to negate the solutions proffered to issues at the campaign grounds.

The MCE is heading a team on agenda “One Term MP”. This team is well resourced by the MCE in collaboration with other antagonist who are refusing to accept electoral defeats as part of the sides of democracy, to manufacture tapes and generate damning propaganda against the MP and party leadership. The MCE personally circulates these concocted tapes about the MP and party leadership on social and regular media platforms.

The MCE’s posture has thwarted efforts by leaders to build bridges. His “presidential” posture makes him see any other stakeholder within the structure as subject to his kingdom.

The MCE’s personally established parallel team publishes every move by party elders to secure peace and in effect, impugn on the integrity of these unsuspecting men and women of substance of our party. The MCE personally repackages and leak information on every action at resolving issues for his men to publish effectively to put stakeholders in bad light.

The MCE makes public pronouncements to the effect that MP and party leaders are consulting shrines at India and Tetrem ostensibly to frustrate him from delivering development to the people. Even dead cockroaches are interpreted by MCE as juju against him.

If at this technological age this is the thinking of our MCE, then heaven knows where we are going.

It is certainly not in doubt that the MCE is trading the development of the municipality for pettiness.

Ladies and gentle, our prime task this morning is to collectively announce to you that we have submitted strongly grounded petitions to the appropriate offices for the removal of Hon. KD Asmah from office.

We the Constituency Executive Committee and the entire party hierarchy stand resolute in this regard and reaffirm the party and for that matter the government’s commitment to quality leadership for effective delivery of our developmental agenda at the local levels.

Signed!

Benjamin Kessie

Constituency Secretary
