Mr Abdul-Aziz Mohammed, Member of Parliament for Mion Constituency in the Northern Region has presented items worth GHC90, 000.00 to the Mion District Directorate of Education to enhance teaching and learning in the area. It was also to facilitate administrative work of the District Directorate of Education to ensure that data of pupils were properly kept to help in the provision of more facilities for district.

Items presented included 15 desktop computers, two Apsonic motorbikes, 10,000 exercise books and quantities of supplementary reading books in the Dagbanli Language.

Mr Mohammed, who presented the items to authorities of the Mion District Directorate of Education at Sang on Thursday, said the desktop computers would enhance the teaching of Information and Communication Technology as well as administrative work whiles the two motorbikes would be used to supervise teachers at schools in the district.

There are 12 basic schools in the district and each would receive a desktop computer while the remaining three would serve the administrative functions of the District Directorate of Education. He expressed his commitment to working to ensure that the constituents had access to basic social amenities especially in the areas of education and health.

He assured of working to complete major educational projects in the district saying the immediate request by the District Directorate of Education to provide more furniture to some schools in the area would be considered. Alhaji Abukari Atchulo, Acting Mion District Director of Education, who received the items, expressed gratitude to the Member of Parliament for the area for his efforts at ensuring quality education in the district.

Alhaji Atchulo assured that the items would be put to good use to achieve the intended purpose urging teachers to do their best to improve standard of education in the district. He said some of the schools were not connected to electricity appealing to the Member of Parliament to help extend the national grid to such schools.
