MP commissions borehole for deprived Metsonya community

The New Patriotic Party (MP) Member of Parliament for Suhum, Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah has commissioned a mechanized borehole for the people of Metsonya.

Metsonya is one of the suburbs of Suhum and has been lacking potable drinking water for so many years.

The project was in fulfilment of a campaign promise the lawmaker made to his people during the 2016 electioneering campaign.

It was in response to an appeal the appeal of the area made to the legislator when went there to campaign in 2016.

The project is estimated to cost a little over GHC 30,000 and could completely serve the whole community and even beyond.

Addressing the gathering at the project site before the commissioning, Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah thanked the community members for their commitment, hard works and sacrifices in ensuring that the project came to a successful completion.

He said one of the problems he faces as an MP in the constituency is the unwilling nature of some constituents to sacrifice or release their lands for such community projects.

He tasked the people of the area to take good care of the facility and promised to come to their aid whenever it develops any major fault.

Speaking on behalf of the community after the official commissioning, Mr Prince Odame thanked the Hon. Opare-Ansah for the kind gesture and asked for more developmental projects for the community.

He said the road leading to the community needs tarring and bemoaned the ordeal they go through to get to their homes whenever it rains.

He also touched on the need to increase the number of streetlights in the area for security purposes.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Opare-Ansah said the road leading to the community is part of the Suhum township road contract that has been awarded and will soon be constructed for them.

He promised to help the community to overcome all its challenges in due time.
