The Sekyere Afram Plains Police Command in the Ashanti Region is in dire need of vehicle to curb shooting and killing of residents by suspected nomadic Fulani headsmen in the area.

"Lack of police vehicle is among several challenges facing police officers", chairman of the District Security Committee (DISEC), Hon. Joseph Owusu revealed.

"A lot of our people including the officers are shoot and killed by suspected criminals and police are unable to chase them because of rickety vehicle", the District Chief Executive (DCE) spoke on Kumasi-based Hello FM.

According to the DCE, several efforts have been made to the central government for new vehicles while appealing individuals and philanthropists to come in their aid.

Two police officers on duty were recently shoot and  killing by suspected Fulani headsmen in the area after several  attacks on the residents.

Drobonsohene, Nana Dwamena Dankwa, therefore, wants all herdsmen to vacate the area, failure to do so could lead to forceful eviction.

Sekyere Afram Plains District which shares borders with both the Brong Ahafo and Eastern Regions at Anyinofi, near Atebubu, and Sempoa respectively, has a population of over 36,000 inhabitants.

It has the largest landmark in the southern sector of the country and tagged the fifth largest district in the country.
