New Krobo launches development project

New Krobo (B/A), Aug 5, GNA - The chiefs and people of New Krobo in Abanin electoral area in the Techiman Municipality, have launched a 60-million-cedi development programme.

Launching the programme at a public forum at New Krobo, Opanin Kwaku Dateakwa Agyarku, Regent of the Community, said projects to be undertaken under the plan include the extension of electricity to the area.

He said the project would be financed through special levy of 100,000 cedis imposed on each building plot owner. Opanin Agyarku said the MP for Techiman South, Mr Prince Oduro-Mensah, would support the electrification project with iron rods and cement.

The Regent appealed to all plot owners in the New Krobo settlement area to pay their levy, saying defaulters would be made to pay a fine of 400,000 cedis on completion of the project.

Mr Daniel Gyimah, Secretary of the electrification committee said 60 concrete poles would be erected before the end of the year. Alhaji Kwabena Adjei, Director of Assurance Preparatory School, promised to support the project with 10 poles.
