Stay away from illegal chainsaw operations – Chief warns

The Chief of Assin Nyankomasi in the Assin North District, Nana Kwaku Apotae IV has warned his subjects to stay away from illegal chainsaw operations as it is against the laws of the country.

He said nobody should call on him for pardon when the law gets hold of him for illegal chainsaw operations.

Nana Apotai disclosed this at the inauguration ceremony of a Forestry security checkpoint at Assin Nyankomasi on Friday, 19 September 2018.

The Chief Executive Officer of Timber Industry Development Division, Dr Nana Ben Nathan Donkor, who is also the paramount chief of Obogu in Asante Akyem South said the Fosu checkpoint have been opened to check illegal logging in the country.

Mr Mathew Duku, the manager for Assin Fosu Branch of the Timber Industry Development Division called on government to organise stakeholders meeting with industry players to educate them on the effect of illegal logging on the country.
