The Asantehene’s Chief Priest Baffour Sumankwahene Asabre Ababio will this morning storm the office of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to demand answers to why KMA relocated traders to racecourse market without consulting river Subin which has its head in the market.

Over 200 traders yesterday stormed the palace of Otumfuo’s Chief priest in Kumasi after the River Subin, one of Asanteman’s powerful deities allegedly revealed itself a second time to traders in the racecourse market.

This planted fear in the traders forcing them to march straight to seek for spiritual interpretation from Otumfuo Sumankwahene who is the spiritual head of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Asante Kingdom.

Addressing the traders in his palace, Baffour Sumankwahene, described the development as unfortunate and commended River Subin for revealing its anger when provoked by KMA and its business partners in the racecourse Market.

“I will like to use this opportunity to thank Nananom for revealing their anger to the traders. I’m very disappointed in KMA management for falling to accord River Subin the needed respect it deserves before relocating the traders to the market’’ he said.

“I know for sure there’s no toilet facilities in the market, the traders are just urinating into River Subin always and you expect Nananom to be quiet about that”? he questioned the traders.

He added KMA failed to accord river Subin similar respect before construction works on Kejetia market, which nearly destructed the entire project until Otumfuo ordered him to intervene to perform the needed rituals.

“Yet KMA has not learnt any lesson from that, you can never underestimate River Subin, I’m happy the matter has come to my attention I’m ready to step forward to ensure the safety of the traders. They are all daughters and sons of Asantehene for which reason there’s the need for me to protect them that is why I’m storming KMA today.’’

He warned the river is set to cause series of deaths in the market “Am telling you all here that, River Subin will kill a lot of you traders, you will never make meaningful profit in your trading activities. KMA, the land was given to you by Otumfuo free of charge, why are people selling the racecourse market lands, why haven’t the traders evicted from the central business district have space to trade in the market. KMA must show leadership in racecourse market.”
