Nkoranza (B/A) June 11 GNA - Mr Kwaku Poku Boah, Barrister at Law and an aspirant for National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket to contest the Nkoranza South Constituency Parliamentary seat in Election 2004 has geared up his campaign for the primaries.
He has set up a five-member campaign team to canvass for votes for him in the primaries, which would be contested by two other candidates. Mr Poku Boah told Ghana News Agency at Nkoranza that if he became an MP he would fight to ensure that Parliamentarians supported decisions with their conscience and not party affiliations.
He said Parliament would then take objective decisions for the benefit of the people.
The aspiring MP said the country faced the challenge of good leadership and stressed the need for people in authority to ensure effective supervision for increased productivity.
"Ghana is a blessed nation endowed with a lot of rich resources like cocoa, timber, gold, bauxite and other minerals, which need to be properly exploited to enhance its development", Mr Boah stated. The aspiring MP said other resources such as tourist attractions must be developed to help the people to improve their living standards. Mr Boah stressed that it was high time the Ghanaians practised self- reliance and not to depend on foreign countries for survival "because as an independent State, seeking for financial assistance outside the country means we are still dependent on other people".
He called on people in leadership positions to place the development of the country above their personal interests so that every citizen could enjoy part of the national cake.
