Akwasiho (E/R), May 24, GNA- The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Sam Prempeh last Sunday called for unity, peace and co-operation among Ghanaians to enhance the country's democratic dispensation.
He said: "a nation which does not unite the people irrespective of their political, religious and ethnic affiliations towards its development is bound to destruction."
Rt. Rev. Dr Prempeh was speaking at the elevation of the Akwasiho sub-district of the church to a full district status at Akwasiho near Nkawkaw in the Kwahu South district of the Eastern Region.
He advised Ghanaians especially Christians not to regard their political opponents as enemies but as fellow Ghanaians with different opinion towards the nation's development.
The Moderator said the instability among the country's neighbouring countries is due to lack of unity and co-operation among the people and urged Ghanaians to unite and co-operate with each other.
He urged Christians to get involved in the country's programmes for the provision of quality education, health, road construction and provision of good drinking water.
The Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. Dr. Charles Gyan-Dua said the Akwasiho District is the 13th in the Kwahu Presbytery and 191 in the country and advised the District Pastor and his elders to use its congregation in the seven communities to win more souls in the area. The District Pastor of the Church, Rev. Simon Asare Antwi gave the assurance that he and the Church members would mobilize financial and human resources in the district to enhance the development of the church.
