Increasing rate of teenage pregnancy at Ayekopowso in the Ayensuano district of the Eastern Region has been attributed to immoral acts of some older men.

Ayekopowso, a farming community for some time now, have recorded several teenage pregnancy issues with almost 90% of them being linked to older men.

Chief of the community, Barima Boamah Bekoe III, speaking to the media expressed worry at the development and wondered why men who could father some of the victims go to the extent of impregnating young ladies in the community.

He indicated, most of these men normally ran away from the community leaving the young victims to their own fate without any support.

"Just last week, a certain old man kidnapped a young girl for days and upon discovery, the girl was found to be pregnant" Barima Bekoe narrated.

He has, however called for assistance from the Gender, Children and Social Protection Ministry as well as other agencies to assist the community with education and also enforce by laws to punish perpetrators.

He also appealed to the Inspector General of Police to provide the community with a police station to help deal with criminal issues confronting the community.
