Kwashie Gborlor IV challenged to prove his lineage in Ngleshie Amanfro

The claimant to the Ngleshie Amanfro Stool, Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV, has been challenged to prove his lineage among all the seven recognized clans of Ngleshie Amanfro.

According to the Ngleshie Amanfro Royal Establishment, a chief to the Stool is chosen from the family lineage of the seven clans and anything short of that is illegal as captured in the Chieftaincy Act, Act 759 of 2008.

The newly installed chief of Ngleshie Amanfro, Nii Akramah Nyonmor Bei II, who threw the challenge to Kwashie Gborlor IV, (who continues to hold himself in that capacity even though his name had been removed from the National Register of Chiefs), indicated that the installation of Kwashie GborlorIV (Koforidua) was irregular as no traditional selection process was carried out to determine the family lineage that will guarantee his eligibility to the throne.

Nii Akramah Nyonmor Bei II in an interview also pointed out that there was malpractice and serious illegalities in the installation of Kwshie Gborlor IV because it was clear to those who aided in that illegality, that he does not belong to any of the clans.

“By our custom, the only person who will be considered to occupy the Stool is the one to be selected from a royal family. Kwashie Gborlor IV does not belong to any of these houses. He is an alien and a total stranger who in 1995, came to Ngleshie Amanfro from Koforidua to solicit for help from the late destooled Kwashie Gborlor III to travel to Europe. Ngleshie Amanfro turned into Europe for him,” he stressed.

Nii Akramah Nyonmor Bei II, the chief of Ngleshie Amanfro and pointed out that in 2011, Humphrey Djartor Botchway (Koforidua) who has no lineage to any of the houses burst onto the scene and forcibly imposed himself with the help of people without locus when the legitimate Chief, Nii Cofie Adjenkwa III, had not been destooled or abdicated.

He said, Humphrey Djartor Botchway (Koforidua) out of ambition in 2010, attempted to mount the throne but was thrown out from the Stool House by the Head of Family of the Akrama Naa with the help of the police and military, but deceitfully found his way onto the throne in 2011 with the help of Nii Kojo Ababio, Paramount chief of Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council.

Nii Akramah Nyonmor Bei II, who was installed by the Stool Father, Retired Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) J. A. Adams and family Heads and Elders of the seven clans, said when Humphrey Djartor Botchway maneuverer to have his name entered into the Register of Chiefs in 2012, Nii Cofie Ajenkwa III, the then substantive chief, challenged his position with several petitions to the Regional and National Houses of Chiefs.

Nii Cofie Ajenkwa III provided documentary evidence to the effect that before the purported installation of Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV as Ngleshie Amanfro Chief, he (Nii Cofie Ajenkwa III) had not been destooled or abdicated hence he was still the legitimate chief of the town but unfortunately passed on in June 2015 and also proved beyond doubts that Kwashie Gborlor IV, is an alien to the Clans.

This ruling by the National House of Chiefs based on the records at the Ga Traditional Council nullifies the claims by the destooled Kwashie Gborlor IV as chief of Ngleshie Amanfro.

This has been confirmed by the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Dodowa, in their letter dated February 2016.

The National House of Chiefs, in taking thorough consideration of the evidence provided by Nii Cofie Ajenkwa III, upheld that the installation of Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV was fraudulently done and that the insertion of his name into the Register was flawed and must be deleted hence the removal of his name from the register.

Meanwhile, Nii Akramah Nyonmor Bei II said, historical records showed that Kwashie Gborlor IV does come from the royal line of the Ngleshie Amanfro Stool let alone a citizen of Ngleshie Amanfro and challenged the “so-called” elders around him to challenge this assertion.

“Kwashie Gborlor IV claims to hail from a ruling family, but he does not hail from any of the seven clans namely: Akrama Naa, Adjumanko Kpono, Odumshishie, Okla We, Osani Mensah We, Kofi Dondo We and Tsenku Naa. He does not hail either maternally or paternally from any of the above mentioned clans.”

In view of all these explanations, Nii Akramah Nyonmor Bei II challenged Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV to tell the people of Ngleshie Amanfro his place of origin.

He said, Kwshie Gborlor IV would save himself from disgrace and humiliation if he gathers the courage to tell the people about his lineage.

“Unless of course, he himself doesn’t know where he hails from. If he doesn’t, we will tell him where he comes from and prove to him that he is a complete stranger, a squatter and alien on Ngleshie Amanfro land,” Nii Akramah indicated.

Nii Nyonmor Being II indicated that there are more revelations to be released about Kwashie Gborlor IV.
