19.10% is all we could chalk for BECE in 2016 meaning only less than half of the one thousand seventy seven made it to senior high school, where did the rest go?.Inspite of all the interventions in education in the sissala East district, 2016 is said to have recorded the worst dip in performance which has struck the attention of all, thinking of new ways out of the current quagmire.simply put, the interventions have not worked,an assembly member exclaimed to Tumu Radford in an interview during the first ordinary session of the assembly held at conference hall of the assembly.

Records of BECE performance from 2013 to 2016 has revealed a drastic decline with percentage figures providing 19.10% for 2016 with 1,077 candidates which is the worst in the last few years. 752 sat for the exams in 2013 but the performance was 35.9%, 869 sat for the exams in 2014 with performance record of 30.49% and 972 were presented to write in 2015 and their performance was 22.63%.

This trend of performance according to the DCE needs re-strategizing of measures to subdue the canker. He stated" that the strategies should start from Kindergarten levels till good seeds are produced to write the BECE".

He however, calls for "attitudinal change of teachers, parents and schools children themselves including all stakeholders in education to put up efforts to improve the situation".

Meanwhile, several interventions were put in place to improve the performance of BECE candidates yet there seems not to be any yielding results. The poor BECE performance has then become a blame on all stakeholders who in either way contributes or seems reluctant about addressing the issue.
