Takorasi gets borehole from Fantse Association of Columbus

Residents of Takorasi, a farming community in the Mfantseman district of the Central Region are in a celebratory mood, thanks to the Fantse Association of Columbus, which donated a borehole worth $5000 to the village.

In attendance at the commissioning of the borehole was the assemblyman for the area, the chief of the village, traditional leaders and a representative of the association, Mr. Kofi Forson.

The Assemblyman of the area, Mr. Ignatius Tetteh-Botah … who received the borehole on behalf of the community said, the village has experienced a long and rough road of thirst, which has been quenched by the association.

He thanked the Association on behalf of the village and promised to take good care of the borehole.

Presentating the borehole to the village, the Organizing Secretary of the association, Mr. Kofi Forson said the journey to provide the borehole has been a rocky one, but the association, determined to fulfil its philanthropic obligations decided to raise funds to construct the borehole.

He also urged the community to make good use of the borehole and ensure that it is maintained to last a very long time.

Mr. Forson further stressed that the village was selected as the first recipient among five other villages because of its peculiar water challenge and spirit of community development shown by the people through their self-help projects.

He indicated that after receiving requests for assistance, the association sent a committee last year to visit each of the communities and Takorasi was selected.

He urged all individuals particularly those who want to see an end to peculiar diseases like cholera to help in the association’s vision of total eradication.
The Fantse Association of Columbus, which was inaugurated on September 26, 2015 has made it their mission to provide one bore hole every year to deprived communities in the western and central regions and the first of its mission was the donation to sought to provide borehole to a village in need.

Takorasi, a village with a total population of about 500 was selected among many other communities due to their peculiar needs.

To show their appreciation for the gesture, the community presented a male goat and some farm produce and thanked the Fantse Association for the life saving equipment.
