Wood carver jailed for defiling stepdaughter

Accra Feb.24, GNA- A 43-year-old wood carver who defiled his step daughter was on Tuesday sentenced to 15 years imprisonment with hard labour by a Circuit Court in Accra.

Kofi Barnor pleaded guilty and the court presided over by Mr Kwadwo Owusu convicted him.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Emmanuel Boison told the court that for some time, the mother of the victim detected that the convict's behaviour towards the victim was becoming suspicious.

She, therefore, warned him to be careful of her daughter as her first daughter met the same fate of being defiled by the convict, which resulted in her moving away from the house.

Prosecution said on February 11, at about 1800 hours, the victim's mother left the house while the victim was washing. The convict took advantage of the situation, and dragged her to a nearby spot, stripped her naked and had sex with her. When the victim's mother returned, she caught them in the act and raised an alarm.

Prosecution said the convict admitted having had sex with the victim on two occasions, but attributed it to the work of the devil.
