A Disc Jockey (DJ) of Tamale-based North Star Fm Adam Mustapha known in the media circles as DJ Staff was on Tuesday subjected to severe beatings by some hired thugs over comments he is purported to have made on air about ladies in the local movie industry.

According to colleagues of the station belonging to the late former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, he was alleged to have claimed ladies in the movie industry are given roles in exchange for sex by either the producers or directors.

The comments did not go down well with Tamale-based some actors and actresses who devised a strategy and had him attacked to serve as a deterrent to others

Narrating what really transpired and led to the attack to North Star news, DJ Staff explained that he hosted Mba Kurti, a veteran actor on his Tudu Nyagsi Saha program on Monday night on his profile and the movie industry in the north.

He stated that “in the course of the interview I asked him whether he has heard rumours of the women in the industry exchanging sex for roles in movies, which he confirmed hearing but denied that the women do not engage in such acts”.

DJ Staff who is also said to be engaged in the production of movie trailers and jingles further disclosed that at around 3:45pm on Tuesday, he received a call from unknown persons with regards to him assisting in the production of a movie trailer and demanded they meet him at Bamba Academy to discuss the modalities.

According to him, he first met two men on a motorbike near the school when he arrived, adding in the course of the discussion on the jingle, about 20 well built men on motorbikes trooped to the venue and started beating him with sticks and other offensive objects.

“I was beaten to the extent I was almost ripped off l my clothes. I had to fight back and struggle to save myself from being lynched. The attention of an old man on a tricycle was drawn to the scene coupled with my action and they dispersed “. He revealed.

“My whole body is paining me, I hardly talk for long, and my breath isn’t enough when I talk for long. I have since lodged a complaint with the police who have started investigation into the attack. I know two of them, one is ‘Red Boy’ from Kalpohini and the other is ‘Undertaker’ from Sabonjida. I know the faces of the rest but don’t know their names” DJ Staff told Abubakari Sadiq Sulemana of North Star FM.
