Assembly urges probe into Nsoatre chieftaincy conflict

Nsoatre (B/A), Jan. 26, GNA- The government has been called upon to set a committee to probe the chieftaincy conflict at Nsoatre in the Sunyani District of Brong Ahafo.
Such a committee would pave way for a lasting solution to the conflict, which has retarded the development of the area. The Assemblyman for Agyinase Electoral Area at Nsoatre, Mr Evans Agyekum, who made the call, expressed grave concern about the volatile situation prevailing in the area.
He appealed to all bodies and organisations concerned with the settlement of the feud to expedite action on the matter. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, the Assemblyman stressed that until a lasting solution was found to the problem, development in the traditional area would be a mirage. The conflict in the area began when a misunderstanding arose on the enstoolment of a successor to the paramount chief, Nana Hinneh Akwasi Brempong II about three years ago. The conflict led to the death of three people and since then, the area has seen no peace.
