CBO launches AIDS education programme

Nkoranza (B/A), Jan. 20, GNA - Members of a Community Based Organization (CBO) at Bonsu in the Nkoranza District have launched an education campaign in eight communities on the causes and effects of HIV/AIDS and how to prevent it.
The communities were Bonsu, Bibiani, Koforidua, Asonkwaa, Dotobaa, Wagadougu, Beposo and Adjeikrom.
Ms Asha Baffoaa, Organizer of "Yare Weremfo" HIV/AIDS campaign team of the CBO was briefing the Ghana News Agency at Nkoranza about their activities.
She said the people were advised not to shun or discriminate against victims of the pandemic "since every one stands the risk of contracting it".
The organizer announced that workshops were also organized for community leaders to enable them to continue with the education on the pandemic.
The people were made aware of the ABC rules of HIV/AIDS that advise them to abstain from casual sex, be faithful to one's partner or to use condom when the need arises, Ms Baffoaa said. She commended Ghana AIDS Commission for its financial support towards their activities, as well as the district focal person of the programme, Mr. Solomon Obeng-Duah, for assisting the CBO with the necessary guidelines.
