Provide nurses quarters for clinic - Chief.

Agona Kwanyako, C/R, Jan 3, GNA - Nana Barima Ampim Darko V, Chief of Agona Kwanyako has appealed to the government to construct nurses' quarters and provide additional facilities, including laboratory and an ambulance for the clinic.

Speaking at the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of his ascension to the stool, Nana Darko, said the construction of the nurses quarters would motivate nurses to accept postings to the Kwanyako clinic.

Nana Darko, who is also Kyidomhene of Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area, noted that due to lack of accommodation and other facilities, services at the clinic had not been encouraging, even though nurses and paramedical staff are doing their best.

He called for the rehabilitation of the old market and an increase in market days at Kwanyako to promote ready market for the produce of the farmers.

Nana Darko appealed to the Agona District Assembly, Donor Agencies and Non- Governmental Organisations to help the construction of bridge across the Ayensu River since a large tract of land lies beyond the river that could be developed into a township.

He asked the Ministry of Transport and Highway to re-construct the bridge over river Kunkumso, which links the routes from Accra through Kasoa, Bawjiase to Cape Coast and Takoradi to promote transportation of goods and services.

Nana Darko announced that he has initiated various programmes to provide a science block and computer laboratory for Kwanyako Secondary School and about

50 million cedis has been spent on the two projects. He appealed to the government to provide a new electricity transformer to improve the power supply to the school to ensure effective academic work.

Nana Darko urged parents at Agona Kwanyako to send their children to school, especially the girl-child, since education is the key to every nation's development. 03 JAN. 04
