Speaking to the GNA in Kumasi on Friday at KATH, Mrs Evelyn Boateng, a Principal Nursing Officer said, 25 babies made up of 16 males and nine females were delivered.

At the Officials ward of KATH, Miss Grace Antwi, a Midwifrey Superintendent said only one female baby was delivered and that both the baby and the mother were doing well.

At the Manhyia hospital, Miss Elizabeth Blankson, a nursing officer in-charge of the maternity ward said the five babies delivered were made up of three females and two males.

At the Suntreso hospital, Miss Evelyn Britwum, a nursing officer at the maternity unit said three babies all females were delivered. She said the first two deliveries were spontaneous while the third one was through caesarean operation.

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) hospital, recorded no births.

Mrs Veronica Adu-Darko, Principal Nursing Officer in charge of the maternity ward of the hospital, told the GNA that festive occasions like Christmas and new year are not peak periods for deliveries since that is rather a period where husbands get closer to their wives resulting in the beginning of pregnancy, adding "it is after such festive occasions that many wives pick seed".

Mrs Adu-Darko said deliveries and births are therefore in their peak between May and October.
