Kuapa Kokoo Farmers' Union to improve healthcare services to farmers-President

President of the Kuapa Kokoo Co-Operative Cocoa Farmers and Marketing Union Limited (KKFU); Madam Fatima Ali has outlined moves to ensure that farmers enjoy good health to enable them produce more.

Madam Ali who was speaking at the 22nd Annual Delegates Conference of the Union emphasized KKFU's focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

She explained that many farmers with serious health complications have received treatment at the Kuapa Health outfit without having to pay anything due to Kuapa's robust Health Insurance scheme. The President was full of praise for the Director of Health Services at Kuapa Kokoo; Dr. Fred Bedzrah for doing exploits as far as farmers' health is concerned.

She explained plans to expand KKFU's Health facility into a bigger facility capable of admitting sick farmers and treating a lot more people. She also explained that the mobile clinic concept which KKFU already operates will be expanded to enable them go further into farming communities to cater for the health of farmers.
"Already, our mobile clinic has covered 23 localities and is still moving".
She also announced that Kuapa kokoo Farmers' Union is now a fully registered Cooperative Credit Union with a concomitant name change; Kuapa Kokoo Co-Operative Cocoa Farmers and Marketing Union Limited (KKFU), and encouraged farmers to be part of the cooperative and participate actively in all its activities.

She also named other projects undertaken with the collaboration of their partners including the launch of a teleAgric Consultation kkfu_agm1Centre, Construction of classroom blocks, gender programmes among several others being undertaken to empower farmers.

Also in attendance were Barima Offe Okogyeasuo II, a representative of Dr. Stephen Kwabena Opuni (CEO, Ghana Cocoa Board), Chief Nathaniel Nsarkoh (Country Director-Millenium Promise Alliance, Ghana), Ms. Sophi Tranchell (MD-Divine chocolate) among several other guests.
