Defeated Parliamentary Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Suame Constituency Hayford Osei Bempeh is contesting as an independent candidate in the December polls.

Bempeh accused the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu of being in bed with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He claimed the Legislator is doing the bidding of NDC and not propagating works of NPP which is why he is contesting the seat.

He wondered why the Majority Leader Alban Bagbin campaigned for the incumbent MP during the party’s primaries in Suame.

The young businessman believes, the minority leader has under-performed as an MP, hence his decision to unseat him with the support of some faceless members within the constituency.

According to him, the MP is not serving the interest of his constituents.

He further questioned Kyei Mensah Bonsu’s commitment in projecting the image of the party’s Flagbearer Nana Dankwa Akufo- Addo in the constituency.

In an interview with Ultimate News, the Parliamentary candidate accused the Minority Leader of being sponsored by the NDC government.

‘When you visit the Suame constituency, none of NPP posters have been raised in the constituency, he has not even given money to the constituency executives to work on posters, he has not even erected any billboard for Nana Addo, he did the same thing in 2012 and we thought he was joking, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu does not have anything good to offer the constituency, I can confidently say that he is being sponsored by the NDC government, and that we cannot allow him do things that will hinder Nana Addo’s quest for power, he is working against Nana Addo,’ he claimed.

He promised to provide infrastructural development in the constituency through lobbying, saying the constituency lacks social amenities, accusing the MP of neglecting the constituents.
