MCE commends chiefs for supporting development

Mr Sam Atukwei Quaye, the Ga West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has commended the chiefs in the area for releasing lands for developmental projects.

Mr Quaye made the commendation when he presented a number of items to the chiefs at Amasaman towards the celebration of this year’s Homowo Festival.

The items included 50 mini-bags of maize, 20 gallons of palm oil, 10 cartons of schnapps and 20 cartons of non-alcoholic beverages.

The Homowo Festival, which means hooting at hunger, is celebrated by the Ga-Dangmes in Greater Accra which is characterised by the sprinkling of Kpokpoi and palmnut soup to signify their gratitude to the gods for blessing them with bumper harvest.

Mr Quaye expressed gratitude to the chiefs for their support to development.

He mentioned among the projects undertaken by the Assembly as a complex hospital at Ofankor, a 22-unit classroom blocks and the ongoing construction of the President’s modern Senior High School at Akraman.

The MCE called on the chiefs to use the Homowo occasion to educate the people to enroll their children in schools so that the educational infrastructures would not be a waste of resources.

Nii Amasa Oseiku II, the Amasaman Mantse who received the items on behalf of the chiefs expressed gratitude to the government and the MCE for the kind gesture

Nii Oseiku urged his colleagues to use the festival to plan for developmental projects to enhance the living conditions of their subjects.

Nii Klotey Boi II, the Ofankor Mantse and the Presiding Member of the Assembly advised the youth to avoid alcoholic intake and other vices during the festival to ensure a peaceful celebration.

Other chiefs present at the donation are Nii Aryetey Okoansro I, Opah Mantse, Nii Oshikpi Lartey of Abeanse and Nii Kwei Mensah I, Agyeaman Gyasetse.
