Odontuase JHS gets new classroom block

A GHC108,000.00 classroom block, built to create space for effective teaching and learning at the Odontuase Junior High School (JHS) in the Birim North District, has been inaugurated in a ceremony.

The structure comes with three classrooms, staff common room, office and store and it was funded by the district assembly.

Ms. Mavis Ama Frimpong, the Eastern Regional Minister, who was on hand to perform the inauguration, underlined the need to make girl-child education a priority.

She called for parents and guardians to give strong push to academically brilliant school girls to live their dreams and contribute positively to the progress of the society.

They should not be rushed into early marriages, something she said was unhelpful to efforts at fighting poverty.

Ms. Frimpong said she found it quite disheartening that not a single girl from the school, which had existed for 50 years, had made it to the tertiary level and asked that this changed.

She appealed to the parents and teachers to work together, provide every encouragement and opportunity for girls to fully exploit their academic potentials.
