Awutu Sewnya East IPDC launched

Awutu-Senya East Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC), was launched to assist the Municipal National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) to educate the electorate on electoral laws in the Municipality.

They are also to oversee the activities of political parties within the municipality to ensure peace before and after the forthcoming general election.

The members mainly from the registered political parties, traditional rulers, religious groups and the Municipal Police Commander, has the Very Reverend Isaac Tawaih Fynn, Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Church, Kasoa as the Chairman.

District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Alfred Kudoh, Commander Kasoa District Police, said it is important to put their house in order to ensure peaceful elections and as a result the would continue to execute their duty by enforcing the laws to arrest electoral offenders.

He advised the youth to comport themselves and try to play by the rules before and during the elections to avoid any crash with the security agencies.

DSP Kudoh who is also the Municipal Electoral Security Task Force (MESTF) announced that the Kasoa Police have created a buffer to ensure those unregistered motor bikes are not used within the parameters of the polling centres.

He, therefore, pledged the MESTF preparedness to ensure peace before and after the elections.

Mrs May Nyamekye Ankrah, Municipal Director of NCCE, said the IPDC members would assist the Commission on voter education by creating the necessary platform for the NCCE staff to carry out their campaign.

She said very soon they would be organising debate for all parliamentary aspirants in the Constituency and would need the help of the IPDC members to educate the electorate, especially the on electoral violence.

Mr Ebenezer Annoh-Kwafo, Acting Municipal Director, urged the members to take up the mandate without fear or favour because at the end of the day it is Ghana that they are trying to protect.

He said programmes and other activities would be organised for all the political parties to ensure that peace prevail in every sector of the country.

“Your programmes should be realistic and time bound so that come November 7, Ghana would be united, Kasoa would be together as one people with a common goal and purpose,” he added.

Mr Dominic Agbanu, District Electoral Officer, expressed the need for the beefing up of security, especially at hot spots during the forthcoming elections.

He urged the electorate to go out in their numbers when the Commission exhibits the voters register for the verification of their names.

“It is import that all registered voters visit the exhibition centres to check their names and verify with the Biometric Data Device,” he added.

The Very Reverend Isaac Tawiah Fynn, Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Church and Chairman of IDPC, pledged members’ cooperation to make the general election a success.

“Local Council of Churches would also play their part and I am urging all political parties to educate their members on the forthcoming Constituency Parliamentary debate,” he said.
