Mr. Quarshie, believed to be in his mid-40s met his untimely death after one of the tyres of his double axel vehicle bust last Monday.

According to earlier reports, the vehicle fell into a mining pit of Narawa mining company which is a few meters from the Birim River.

"The vehicle fell into one of the pits of the mining company killing the driver on the spot," The Assembly member indicated.

Meanwhile, External Relations Manager of the company, Nana Owusu has expressed how every incident of such nature is always attributed to them.

He said the incident occurred in between their concession and the Birim River where activities of illegal Chanfan operators have left lots of pits posing danger to people.

"It is an accident and I think it is unfair for some people to go round and put the blame on the company even though they do not even have details of the incident,” He indicated.

Nana Owusu, however, pledged his outfit would continue to operate in accordance with the laws governing their operations at all times.

Police have instituted investigation into the issue as the body of the deceased has been deposited at the hospital.
