Lower Dixcove chief appeals for sea defence wall

Nana Kwesi Agyeman IX, the Omanhene of Lower Dixcove, has appealed for the construction of a sea defence wall along the coast of the area.

He said tidal waves are wrecking havoc in the area and urged the government to act quickly on the issue in order to protect properties.

Nana Agyeman, who is also the acting president of the Western Region House of Chiefs, made the appeal at a durbar of chiefs and people of the area at Lower Dixcove held to launch the silver jubilee anniversary of his ascension to the stool as well as this year’s Kumdum Festival.

The celebration has as its theme, “celebrating 25 years of peace and sustainable development through selfless traditional leadership” and would be climaxed with the Kumdum Festival in August.

The Omanhene said he had created the enabling environment to promote peace and development in the area, and urged the people to continue supporting him.

He said some of his efforts has led to the construction of infrastructural facilities and the settlement of family disputes; and commended the elders, divisional chiefs, queen mothers and the youth for the various roles they played.

Nana Kobina Nketsia, Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area, who was the chairman for the occasion, commended the people of the area for supporting Nana Agyeman.

Mr. George Kwame Aboagye, the Member of Parliament and Mr. Joseph Dofoyenah, the District Chief Executive were present at the function.
