Govt. urged to absorb Denyasiman Sec/Tech

Poano (Ash), Aug.13, GNA- An appeal has been made to the government to urgently consider absorbing the Denyasiman Secondary/Technical School into the public educational sector to enable it to offer quality education.

Mr Amaning Kwarteng, Chairman of the Denyasiman Implementation Committee who made the appeal, said because the school is community-based, its development had been hampered in various forms, thereby making it difficult for expansion.

Mr Amaning was addressing a meeting of the Denyasiman Implementation Committee and Authorities of the Denyasiman Sec/Tech. School on Wednesday.

Miss Doreen Aidoo, a spokesperson for Citizens of the area resident in New York, USA was present at the meeting.

Miss Doreen who is on holidays, visited the school to ascertain development problems there and report back to her colleagues in New York.

The Denyasiman Sec/Tech. School was established through the initiative of the various communities forming the Denyasiman state in 1992, and has since been financed and managed solely by the communities as a private institution.

Mr Kwarteng said while waiting for Government's response, "we will like to entreat citizens of the area, resident abroad, to contribute their quota towards expansion of infrastructure in the school".

He noted that even though the school had adequate classrooms and a workshop for technical programmes, lack of a library, science laboratory and hostel facilities in particular, were having a negative impact on its progress.

Miss Aidoo assured the school authorities that Denyasiman citizens in New York were highly concerned about the institution and were exploring avenues by which they could support the school. She said they should provide them with a list of their priorities for assistance.
