3FM 92.7 will transform the airwaves – Gadzekpo

Prof. Victor Gadzekpo: Prof. Victor Gadzekpo: "3FM will be responsive to the needs of our society"

The newly launched 3FM 92.7 is set to transform the airwaves with unbiased, innovative, creative and, among others, development oriented programmes, Board Chairman of MG Radio Limited has declared.

Professor Victor Gadzekpo promised that the radio station would be firm, fair and provide balanced and accurate news as well as current affairs that would examine issues objectively.

He was speaking at the short but colourful launch of 3FM 92.7 at Adesa We in Accra on Thursday.

The radio station is the second of the four radio stations of MG Radio Limited to be launched, barely a week after its sister station Onua 95.1 was launched at Kasoa.

While 3FM would be broadcasting in English, Onua would be a local language station.

Prof. Victor Gadzekpo noted that since radio has become an integral part of people’s lives, the need for radio stations to provide content that meet the needs of listeners cannot be overemphasised.

“With the plethora of radio stations, the need has emerged for a new kind of radio; one that meets the need of today’s busy professionals; one that analyses information that leaves the listener to decide based on unbiased facts presented; one that highlights community needs and issues and works for solutions and; one that infuses itself with the very community it represents.

“Well, look no further because 3FM is here and I stand before you today and pledge to you that this would be a very different radio station.”

He reiterated that listeners of 3FM 92.7 would be provided with content that are educative and can bring about development.

“We have positioned our brands to be the most appealing cosmopolitan radio station as well as the most authentic voice on radio within our coverage,” Prof. Gadzekpo assured.

In order to achieve that, he said, the station has assembled a team of vibrant and insightful professionals and will bring knowledgeable guests on its shows.

“3FM will be responsive to the needs of our society,” the Board Chairman maintained, “we will transform the airwaves.”

The Board Chairman paid glowing tribute to Media General, the parent company of various media brands including TV3 Network Limited.

Other radio stations yet to be launched by MG Radio Limited are Akoma FM and Connect FM.

3FM 92.7 was launched by the Omanhene of Essikado, Nana Kobina Nketsia with support from the Group CEO of Media General Mawuli Hedo, Deputy Minister of Information Ato Sarpong, Board Chairman of TV3 Network Kojo Yankah among other dignitaries.
