E/R Minister tours districts

Suhum (E/R), Aug. 6, GNA - The Eastern Regional Minister, Dr. Francis Osafo Mensah has started a working tour of districts in his region to inspect developmental projects.

The tour took him to the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar districts where he inspected rehabilitation works on the District Assembly hall, the community centre, the new HITECH cocoa farming methods, feeder roads, school blocks and markets.

Dr Osafo Mensah also inspected a water project at Nankese, funded jointly by RODEC, a German firm and the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar and the New Juaben Municipal Assemblies at the cost of 2.5 billion cedis. The water project when completed would serve the communities at Akwadum in New Juaben, Nankese and Brong Densuso, all in the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District.

The Regional also visited JATO, a local Gin distilling company near Akorabo which produces 30 barrels of local gin a day and inspected a three unit school block being constructed from the HIPC fund at Kromameng.

The District Chief Executive of the area, Mr Micheal Kofi Mensah told the Regional Minister that, in line with the Presidential initiative, the district had identified the JATO Distilleries, a Garment factory and a gari processing unit to be expanded by the Assembly.

At a durbar of the chiefs and people of Suhum, Dr Osafo Mensah explained the National Health Insurance Scheme to the people and urged them to contribute to it.
