NADMO presents items to disaster victims

Mamponteng (Ash), July 31, GNA- The Kwabre District of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has presented relief items valued at 28.8 million cedis to 21 people who suffered from various disasters since last year.

The various disaster volunteer groups in the communities in the district also received some of the items.

The items included 25 packets of roofing sheets, 100 bags of cement, 75 cutlasses, 30 pairs of Wellington boots, 300 oil palm seedlings and a cash of 1.5 million cedis as buck up money. Presenting the items to the beneficiaries at Mamponteng on Wednesday, Alhaji Ahmed Akwasi Yeboah, Kwabre District Chief Executive (DCE), said the government was committed to the welfare of the people. He emphasised that the government cannot meet the needs of all but hoped that the items would go a long way to help them to organise themselves well and improve their lot.

The DCE stressed the need for people to maintain their houses clean and refrain from acts that promote environmental and land degradation. Mr Osei Bonsu, a beneficiary from Ahwiaa on behalf of the others, thanked the district assembly for the items. GNA
