NGO Donates Computers to Western Region Police

Sekondi, July 30,GNA- Dominion Life Foundation (DLF) a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) at Takoradi on Wednesday donated three computers and accessories worth about six million cedis to the Western Region Police Command at Sekondi.

Mr Noel Asante Mensah, a representative of DLF who presented the computers said the donation was in response to an appeal by the police for assistance to enhance its operations.

He hoped it would encourage personnel of the service to give of their best, especially in combating crime and other vices in the society. Receiving the computers, Mr Ofosu Mensah-Gyeabour, Regional Police Commander noted that the provision of security had become complex and expensive in this era of information technology.

There is, therefore, the need for individuals and organizations to supplement government's efforts to provide the police with basic tools to enhance their operations.

He said it was the first time that a private organization had come to the aid of the police in the region and commended DLF for the gesture. Mr. Mensah-Gyeabour appealed to other organizations to take a cue from DLF and assist to upgrade the performance of the police.

Madam Gifty Arthur, officer in charge of education of the DLF told newsmen that the Foundation had donated a total of 43 computers and accessories worth about 74,000 pounds to some schools in the Shama Ahanta East Metropolis.
