Bedabour cultivates 3.5 hectares of oil palm

Mpasatia (Ash), July 10, GNA- The Bedabour Junior Secondary School (JSS) near Mpasatia in Ashanti has cultivated 3.5 hectares of oil palm and timber to promote forestation.

Mr Samuel Owusu-Agyapong, the Headteacher, said Nana Kwasi Yeboah, chief of the town, has released large hectares of land to the school to expand the project.

He said this at an education forum organised by Atwima District Education Directorate on community participation in education. Mr Owusu-Agyapong said the school attached importance to practical agriculture and called for assistance.

Mr Baffour Asare-Bediako, an Assistant Director of Education, said the reception accorded to some new teachers posted to rural areas usually scared others from accepting postings to those areas. He cautioned residents of rural communities against anonymous letter writing and called for unity and co-operation between the school and the community.

Mr Asare-Bediako commended the Headteacher for his sacrifice, dedication and hard work that has not only improved discipline and academic output but also the school's infrastructure.
