Zawse community gets new clinic

Zawse (U/E), July 8, GNA - Mr Mahami Salifu, the Upper East Regional Minister, has said the government was committed to providing health care for all Ghanaians, especially those in the rural areas. The Regional Minister, who was commissioning a 147-million cedi clinic at Zawse near Bawku in the Bawku East District of the Upper East Region, appealed to the people to maintain the facility and to support the health personnel to enable them to work efficiently.

He commended the European Union (EU) for funding the project and expressed the hope that the objective for building the clinic would be realized.

Mr Salifu said the EU was also constructing staff quarters estimated at 167 million cedis for nurses who would be working at the clinic.

Dr Alexis Nanbeifubah, the District Director of Health Services, gave the assurance that qualified personnel would be posted to man the facility.

He urged parents to ensure good health for their children and to send them for immunization against poliomyelitis, an exercise, which according to him was in progress in the area.

Mr Abdul-Rahman Gumah, the District Chief Executive (DCE), thanked the EU for funding the construction of the clinic and said he would ensure that the people made maximum use of it.

He said the facility would assist in lessening the burden of the people, who travelled to Bawku for medical treatment. The DCE praised the people for providing communal labour and requested them to consider the clinic as their property and to maintain it.
