Zawse community gets new clinic

Zawse (U/E), July 7, GNA - A 147-million-cedi clinic has been inaugurated at Zawse near Bawku in the Upper East Region by the Regional Minister, Mr Mahami Salifu, to offer primary healthcare to the community and its surrounding villages. A staff quarters estimated at 167 million cedis is also being constructed to accommodate nurses who would be posted to the clinic. The projects were financed under the European Union (EU) fund and labour provided by the people. Mr. Salifu said it was the government's intention to bring health care to the doorsteps of people in the rural areas to improve their living conditions. He urged them to eschew apathy so as to take proper care and maintain the clinic. Mr. Salifu commended the EU for its assistance and expressed the hope that the vision behind its efforts in putting up the clinic would be realized. The District Director of Health Services, Dr. Alexis Nanbeifubah, said qualified nurses would be posted to the clinic to render quality services to the people. He reminded them of an impending immunization exercise against polio and urged them to send their children to be immunized. The District Chief Executive, Mr Abdul-Rahman Gumah, thanked the EU for citing the clinic in the area.
