Assist in reducing maternal deaths

New Edubiase (Ash), July 4, GNA - A health official has appealed to assembly members in the Adansi East District to support health programmes aimed at improving health delivery and reducing maternal death. Mr David Akwasi Amankwah, the District Director of Health Services, who made the appeal at the District Assembly meeting at New Edubiase, said maternal deaths were increasing in the district. He said: "Last year there were five reported deaths and this year too at least three cases have been reported." Mr Amankwah urged the assembly members to assist Traditional Birth Assistants to work effectively to prevent maternal deaths. He said efforts were being made to upgrade clinics and health centres in the district.
