MDP gives bags of rice to refugees

In his determination to support children at the Liberian Refugee Camp, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ministerial Development Programme (MDP,) Mr. George Bannerman has donated 350 bags of rice to the people living at Liberian Refugee Camp at Kasoa in the Central region.

In an exclusive interview with Today Mr. Bannerman said his organisation did this because of the humanitarian feeling he has for these people.

He noted that although he is a Ghanaian, the people living at the Liberian Refugee Camp are also humans and must be supported in every small way to make life more meaningful for them.

According to Mr. Bannerman, he will help the camp in many things including the payment of school fees of children, giving them clothing and many more in other to get them off the street.

“We believe that every child deserves quality education, a sustainable family income and a healthy start in life. That’s why we are supporting them to bring education and better living conditions to refugees living in the camps here, and to help refugee families become more self-reliant. We want their children to have better opportunities for the future,” he said.

He advised them to desist from their care-free lifestyle and the many other bad things they are engaged in so as to uphold good and profitable social ventures that will mould them for a better future.

He also called on other organisations to see the need to help these refugees.

It is on record that over 60,000 children die from hunger, malnutrition and inadequate healthcare globally and about 2000 children in the Liberian Refugees Camp in Ghana are out of school due to the inability of parents to afford school fees.

This has gingered Mr. Bannerman and his organisation to take a step in helping change the lives of refugees in Ghana.
